There are two structures, plunger assembly inside barrel and extemal assembly.
The working principle of Rod Pump is the same as Tubing Pump, by reciprocating of plunger to suck oil from well. During up-stroke, the fixed valve and the annular valve open, traveling valve closed, well fluid is sucked into the pump barrel, and the fluid above the plunger is pumped to the ground. When down stroke, traveling valve open, and fixed valve and annular valve closed, it force fluid to flow into plunger through traveling valve.
